February Monthly Reflection

As I sit to write another reflection so much goes through my mind as I think about the church, the community, the world and my own family.

At times our minds become so full that we do not have the capacity to do what God really intends us to be doing; sometimes our minds and lives are so full and busy that we forget the simple things of our faith.

In recent weeks some key words just keep coming to my mind: stop, listen, reflect and just be...

Be still and know that I am God (Psalm 46)

In all the busyness and with all the things that go through our minds, we need to hear these words, Be Still and Know God... (stop reading for a moment and just pause to think about that line in this wonderful Psalm...)

As we start this month, what ways can we attempt to be still and to hear God's voice speaking to us? It might be that we cannot slow down, sometimes life does not allow that to happen, but in all of the busyness how can we make sure that we are listening to the voice of God, the one who continues to give us life every day?

Let me encourage us to continue reading God's word, continue to pray wherever you are and whatever you may be doing, continue to worship where you are (praise is good for the soul), continue to enjoy fellowship together because this is important (encourage one another).

Stillness and peace come when our focus is clearly on our Lord and Saviour and this is something we all need to do.

Turn our eyes upon Jesus, look full in His wonderful face, and the things of earth will grow strangely dim, in the light of His glory and grace...

Stop, listen, reflect and just be - there is no greater place to be than in the presence of God.

My prayer for us all this month is this: may the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with us all.

With love and prayers  Matt
