Membership |
We believe that those who feel committed to a church would benefit from formal membership.
We encourage all those within our congregations who see Brentford Free Church as their spiritual home to consider Membership.
Church Membership is about belonging to a local Christian community and being involved in its life, work and witness. These things are common themes in the letters of the New Testament.
So what does Membership actually mean?
Well, first of all a member needs to have a personal Christian faith. This may have come from a specific experience, or as part of a gradual process.
Secondly, a member is someone who is committed to the church and who is involved in its life, its work and its worship.
A member is someone who recognises that a particular fellowship is their spiritual home, and where through faith they belong.
In common with most churches, membership is open both to those baptised as believers and to other Christians. As a Free Church within the traditions of the URC and Baptist Union, we encourage baptism as an expression of faith; however, we also welcome people into membership who come from all Christian backgrounds, and whether baptised or not.
